About Pete
I’ve been a technical writer since 2012. I got really into programming after watching the first episode of Mr. Robot in 2019. I just loved seeing Linux and Python on TV. Before then I took some web development classes as an undergrad, where I studied English and IT.
In 2023, I got a Masters in Computer Information Systems from Bentley University. I learned a lot of valuable things. I’ll share some tutorials for the technologies I worked with here. Maybe someday this site will be worth the $43,000 I put into the university.
About this site
This site is built using the
Hugo
static site generator framework. It uses the
Hugo Book
theme. The content is hosted in a private Git repo. When I check-in code to the production branch, a continuous deployment action pushes the code live to this AWS Amplify-hosted site.
Tech and tech experience
Here are some of the technologies I have worked with and hope to work with some more:
- Java, Scala, Python, R, JavaScript, Typescript, jQuery, Android (Java), Swift, Objective-C, Mendix
- Windows Server, PowerShell, Active Directory, Microsoft Hyper-V, Linux, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, Oracle SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Progress WhatsUp Gold, RapidMiner, Oracle Warehouse Builder
Here are some other topics I have studied and learned professionally:
- Agile software development, being a scrum master, project management, metrics and reporting with Jira, negotiations, eLearning courseware development, data warehousing, online teaching, video production, image processing
Here are my weaknesses (admitting is the first step):
- Graphic design, branding, marketing, sales, getting caught up in the minutiae
